Here´s the story about how we have worked with our Mermaid-project.
In April my friend Guri and I started a project, that we have worked on for three month now.

Guri had found a fish net on the beach and it was ruined and felted full of stones and seaweed. She unwrapped it and had an idea of that all the round bows in it could be used for frames for embroideret mermaids on transparent cloth.
I then got an extra idea of a story about a mermaid that was trapped in the net and then from this story we started our Mermaid-installation.

Guri made a big vertical net of macrame in different colors and qualities and on the rings from the net she mounted a piece of heesian from an old cornsack and on that I needled a woman inspired from my own croquis drawings.

To get a little more atmosphere Guri went to the harbour and got a lot of pieces of rope that I arrnged on the needlefelted woman.
On a big piece of  the cornsack i now needled a humansize high mermaid that was mounted on the other side of the big net.

Guri put her 10 women embroidery rings into the net so they now became a big fish trap

Now all the mermais were ready to come out in the real life.

The way we now present our project is some of the most exiting and funny I ever experienced.

We found out that we would present the mermaid in the right athmosphere- and that would be in the harbour-area in our town.
so we made a plan on where that could be. We found places with big fine windows turning out to the harbourside  where people walked along.
We now visited those places and offered them a chance of having the installation for a few days during the next month and then we would come and take it again and move it to another place.
All ower, we were very welcomed and we have now a plan for the next one and a half month.
The places are for example: A big culture and cinema house, a big Bank, the restauration building of the Danish National Museum, a building showing coastlife, a building for retired people that needs care.
Our art-installation has now been hanging at the harbour-area for a week and we are very satisfied and ready for new “fairytales”.
