Doll Of The Month – October 2013

I am often contacted by visitors who would like to buy dolls they have seen in the picture galleries. But all of these dolls have been made as part of projects or have been pre-ordered a long time before they were made. Due to lack of time I only make a very limited number of dolls each year, but I have decided to make some of these dolls available on as “Doll of the month”.

Doll of the month this October is a relief of a dog head build up on a piece of raw fleece that already was felted on the sheep. The color of the raw fleece inspired to this kind of dog with big begging eyes and long ears. When I work with such a fleece I start to thin piece of carded wool and place the raw fleece on top of it. I arrange the stables of wool so they turn the same way (down). Then I make room in the middle, where I want to place the head. I do that by spreading the stables to the sides and then I needle between the stables down through the fleece so the bottom layer of carded wool is needled together with the raw fleece. Then I start to needle the face with the technique I developed for animal faces.

For a dog like this one I do not need to look at photos or study the proportions of the dog. I just want it to look like it comes from my imagination.

The whole relief is 55 cm high and 30 cm broad (the head of the dog is 14 cm high and 16 cm broad)

The price of the relief is $200. This includes shipping. Only the one dolls is available so if you click on the “Buy Now”-link and the dolls has already been sold you will get an error message.

Click below if you would like to buy the doll. You will be taken to the website of PayPal where you can pay by credit card (you don’t need a PayPal-account).
