Doll Of The Month – April 2018

I am often contacted by visitors who would like to buy dolls they have seen in the picture galleries. But all of these dolls have been made as part of projects or have been pre-ordered a long time before they were made. Due to lack of time I only make a very limited number of dolls each year, but I have decided to make some of these dolls available on Feltmaking.com as “Doll of the month”.

Dolls of the month for April are those little forest-spirits and they will be a part of a bigger project, so they will not be for sale yet.

When I started on this project it was because I wanted to work with raw fleece again as I have done many times before. I was inspired from wild-sheep wool I had bought in Norway and when I started to work with it, it gave so many new ideas while I worked. The hands are made in a different way, so they can be arranged in special positions and the faces are also made in a new way, so they can get an expression that fits for the spirit they represent.

I have been working very much before with braiding of the wool and I love to see thin and thick braidings placed as a part of the little beings. On my carding machine I have mixed different kinds of raw fleece to get the raw bark image.

The little beings are from 15-25 cm high and they are meant to be mixed  in little groups.
