Doll Of The Month – April 2013

I am often contacted by visitors who would like to buy dolls they have seen in the picture galleries. But all of these dolls have been made as part of projects or have been pre-ordered a long time before they were made. Due to lack of time I only make a very limited number of dolls each year, but I have decided to make some of these dolls available on as “Doll of the month”.

Doll of the month for April is this little polar bear skin made of a piece of raw fleece that was already felted on the sheep. I then needle felted a piece of carded wool and placed the raw fleece on top of it and needled it carefully to it so it had both a good backside and a fine upper side.

I then made a head for the polar bear with the technique I have developed for animals and I made paws for it with claws worked into them.

As in most of the animals I make it is the wool that gives the inspiration for the things I make. The piece of pre felted raw fleece was lying ready to be used and because we had a period of very snowy weather I thought of the polar bear.

This mini polar bear is 67 cm long and 34 cm broad. The price of the polar bear is $225 and this includes shipping. Only the one dolls is available so if you click on the “Buy Now”-link and the dolls has already been sold you will get an error message.

Click below if you would like to buy the doll. You will be taken to the website of PayPal where you can pay by credit card (you don’t need a PayPal-account).

  1. First I love your creations, you have a good eye for the whimsical . I started with making Santa corsages for Christmas and went up from there. To Trolls, witches, cowboys. And I seem to loose my inspiration or perhaps I just need a change I still love felting just something different to get the brain moving again. I have always been a doodler. doodling on note paper anything to get my mind off of boring. So I found wool and needle felting and like making characters. I am interested in either knitting/felting a sweater type jacket or felting one out of wool, but I need to practice on wet felting since it has been awhile. I am interested in your on line courses.
