Doll Of The Month – March 2014

This month my inspiration came from wool that I found in my stock. This wool reminded me of Gandalf and his big grey hair and I had to work with a type like his and it showed up to be very interesting, because I could use the technique I have developed and work with the colors of his face to give him his special character.

Doll Of The Month – February 2014

Doll of the month in February is a big raw fleece relief with dog heads needled into the fleece.

Doll Of The Month – January 2014

This winter-woman is made with a technique that I need very special wool for. The wool comes from the little Norwegian wild mountain sheep that is one of the few original sheep races that has kept the ability to loosen the whole fleece every year when the new wool starts to grow. That gives the wool a quality that makes it possible to work with as if it was clay.

Doll Of The Month – December 2013

Doll of the month this December is a needle felted baby with a pixie hat. Here in Denmark we have a special relationship to pixies. They are something, we have at Christmas time and we call them “nisses”, and from middle of October till around new year evening, they are all over in many many different materials and expressions. A pixie baby is, by the way, a little unusual because the “nisse” will wear either a red dress or an old-fashioned boys clothes.

Doll Of The Month – October 2013

Doll of the month this October is a relief of a dog head build up on a piece of raw fleece that already was felted on the sheep. The color of the raw fleece inspired to this kind of dog with big begging eyes and long ears. When I work with such a fleece I start to thin piece of carded wool and place the raw fleece on top of it.

Doll Of The Month – September 2013

The doll of the month this September is not for sale because it is part of a project I am working on, but I want to show it to you. As many times before the wool inspired me to this project. It is spelsau and it is a rather course wool that has a wonderful red brown color.

Doll Of The Month – July 2013

This month I have chosen a special thing that has had a long life and now I have given it to the nature to see what will happen to it there. That means that it is not for sale. As you can see it is a felted chair.

Doll Of The Month – June 2013

Doll of the month in June is one of my very big things. This Woman-owl has just been exhibited at an event I took part in at Whitsun last week-end. In Denmark we have a tradition at Whitsun where artists in different part of the country have open ateliers and people arrange tours where they choose which artists they want to visit. To take part in this you have to be censored and 62 artists were accepted this year.

Doll Of The Month – May 2013

Doll of the month in May is made with the technique I call “soft granite”. I have used raw wool from the Gotland sheep and at first I make the wool loose for the whole doll by spreading the fibers in each staple and that makes the wool airy and easy to work with. That means that I do not card the wool but use it directly to shape with.

Doll Of The Month – April 2013

Doll of the month for April is this little polar bear skin made of a piece of raw fleece that was already felted on the sheep. I then needle felted a piece of carded wool and placed the raw fleece on top of it and needled it carefully to it so it had both a good backside and a fine upper side.
