Doll Of The Month – December 2012

I am often contacted by visitors who would like to buy dolls they have seen in the picture galleries. But all of these dolls have been made as part of projects or have been pre-ordered a long time before they were made. Due to lack of time I only make a very limited number of dolls each year, but I have decided to make some of these dolls available on Feltmaking.com as “Doll of the month”.

This month I have, as I use to do every year, chosen a pixie as doll of the month here in December.

My workshop is already full of all my very different pixies and the one I have chosen for you is this Father Christmas with his white beard and his red braces. He has even a repaired hole on the knee of his trousers.

He is made with the technique where I first make a skeleton out of pipe-cleaners, wrap a layer of wool around it and then needle shapes on the body until I have the character I like.

The trousers are made with very special wool I have from the Norwegian company Hillesvaag. It has a special softness and the grey mix fits exactly for a pixie. The hat of the pixie is made with my favorite wool for pixie hats, and that comes from the American firm Harrisville. It has the perfect mix of red colors.

The Pixie is 29 cm high.

The price of both birds is $175 (USD) and this includes shipping. Only the one dolls is available so if you click on the “Buy Now”-link and the dolls has already been sold you will get an error message.

Click below if you would like to buy the doll. You will be taken to the website of PayPal where you can pay by credit card (you don’t need a PayPal-account).

  1. I just wanted to say you are amazing! I have always been drawn to felted objects, perhaps the color softness and maybe the smell of wool. Recently, I have been wanting to make a felted animal like one I have seen. Then I saw your books for sale, now your website! I am so impressed with your work and so inspired! Thank you for sharing your craft, Mary
