I am often contacted by visitors who would like to buy dolls they have seen in the picture galleries. But all of these dolls have been made as part of projects or have been pre-ordered a long time before they were made. Due to lack of time I only make a very limited number of dolls each year, but I have decided to make some of these dolls available on Feltmaking.com as "Doll of the month".
This ghost-figure is chosen to be doll of the month this February. It is needled with many kinds of Spelsau wool.
Wool from lambs, and wool from different grown up sheep, and it is made with different techniques. The ghost is build in a way so you can use it to act with, because both arms are fastened on the body in a way so they can be moved from behind the figure with two little metal hooks hidden in the cape.
The inspiration came from the ghost-monkey that lives in Borneo and in a way this animal also reminds me of the Danish author Karen Blixen who had a very special personality.
The lower part of the skirt is needled with pieces of lamb wool that is build to make a shape that gives a good firm base to stand on. Then the body is made of a cylinder covered with raw stables of wool.
The head is made like I use to needle faces and has got hair of nice red-brown spelsau that is also used for the cape. The hands and the arms are made of thin wire wrapped with carded wool and then they are worked into the body so they can be moved. It is 30 cm high
The price is $ 275 (USD) and this includes shipping. Only the one dolls is available so if you click on the "Buy Now"-link and the dolls has already been sold you will get an error message.
Click below if you would like to buy the doll. You will be taken to the website of PayPal where you can pay by credit card (you don't need a PayPal-account).
