I am often contacted by visitors who would like to buy dolls they have seen in the picture galleries. But all of these dolls have been made as part of projects or have been pre-ordered a long time before they were made. Due to lack of time I only make a very limited number of dolls each year, but I have decided to make some of these dolls available on Feltmaking.com as "Doll of the month".
The doll has been sold
This month I have chosen to present for you this “Mother Earth”. The expression she has in her face is meant to be very calm, self contained and well balanced, enjoying life.
She is made with the soft sculptural technique that is a combination of dry and wet felt. That makes here look extremely alive when you touch her and very very soft and movable, because it is only a very thin skin layer that is wet felted with concentrated soap solution. Her internal has not been wet.
She is even strong enough to use as a puppet.
The body is first builded on a skeleton of long soft pipe cleaners. The shapes for her forms are made individually and then fastened with the felt needle and that gives more possibilities of moving, because these shapes can move separately inside the body.
Her hair is brown wensleydale wool and the colours of her body are made with the aquarelle technique, where I use little little dots of wool and mix them or tease them while I put them on the surface. She is 37cm tall.
The price is $ 190 (USD) and this includes shipping. Only the one dolls is available so if you click on the order-link and the dolls has already been sold you will get an error message.
Click here if you would like to buy the doll. You will be taken to the website of CCNow where you can enter your order details. Your credit card will not be charged untill the doll has been sent.
