Online Course 2 PDF Print E-mail

ImageOn this course you will learn how to needle-felt a little long-haired dog that looks very much alive. The basic technique you will learn for this dog can be used for many other animals. The online course includes a number of video clips with instructions - click here to watch a free video clip with examples of what the finished dog can look like.

The course will step by step show you how to work:

  1. By looking at photos of the working procedure.
  2. By following the instructive text and drawings.
  3. By watching small videos of the working procedure (NEW!).
  4. And you will have the possibility of asking questions directly to me on an interactive messageboard and you will also be able to see my answers to other people that follow the same course.

Qualifications

You need to know the basics of needle-felting in order to follow this course.

Materials

You will need:

  • A medium gauge felt needle (40) and a star needle gauge (38).
  • A big pointed sewing needle.
  • A piece of foam rubber 30x30x5 cm.
  • Carded wool for the basic shape - of a quality that is not too long-fibered and that can contain much air (don't use merino in tops).
  • Raw fleece that is not too long fibered (about 14-15 cm) and of a quality that fits for a long haired dog (if you can't get any raw fleece, you can use the carded wool instead to get the same expression as with the raw fleece) *)
  • Just a little dark brown, red brown and white for the eyes.

*) If you do not have access to raw fleece you can buy it from a number of suppliers, including Filzrausch (Germany), Humanita Art Center (Schweiz) and The Fiber Studio (USA).

It is also recommended that your computer and monitor supports medium or high color quality (at least 10 bit colors). The pictures on the website are compressed in order to make the download quicker and if your computer only supports low color quality you may not be able to see all the details of the pictures.

The pages are best viewed with Internet Explorer 5.0 or newer. You need to have a media player that support the MotionJPEG-codec in order to use the included video clips (most media players support MotionJPEG). The size of the video clips is up to 50 MB per file.

Time needed

The time you will need for this little dog will be about 5-7 hours depending of how trained you are.
