I am often contacted by visitors who would like to buy dolls they have seen in the picture galleries. But all of these dolls have been made as part of projects or have been pre-ordered a long time before they were made. Due to lack of time I only make a very limited number of dolls each year, but I have decided to make some of these dolls available on Feltmaking.com as "Doll of the month".

The doll has been sold

The doll of the month for May is this noble old man. When I worked with the doll for last month I wanted to go on with this special form of the human being because there are so many possibilities in this long slim body. It is in a way a simple form but this simplicity gives a distinguished character to the doll.

I start by making the head and I work very much with details for the expression and with the colors. I need to use colors that are special chosen to give the image of an old person. The eyes have to get a rather pale color. The shadows in the face must show that the skin has become transparent so you can see the veins. That means I use lilac and pale blue nuances.

The fingers are made with thin wire in them, so they can be shaped and there are made distinct knuckles. The colors of the dress that he wears are also made with colors that fit for his expression. When I made the photos of him I was lucky to find surroundings that show his sensitive mild being. He is walking quietly and enjoying life in this big flower garden. He is 42 cm high.
