No doll of the month in August

As I am on holiday and have courses this month, there will be no “Doll of the month” in August. Right now I am joining an exhibition here in Denmark and later this month there will be an international course week-end arranged by the Danish feltunion GRIMA. I will teach how to needle-felt faces and how to give them different expressions.

My next exhibition

Now I am ready with the things I have made for my next exhibition. One of the themes I have worked with for this exhibition is dogs and like at my last exhibition, I have also here worked together with Guri Petersen, who has her shop next to my studio. Among the things we made is a lamp, where she made her part with reindeer skin, while I made mine with needlefelt.

Doll Of The Month – July 2012

This month I have made a woodpecker that is doll of the month. The last half year I have worked with wolves as theme for the exhibition that is now finished. I have now started working on my next exhibition, that has a theme with dogs and then there will also be a group of little singing birds on this next exhibition.

Doll Of The Month – June 2012

This month I have chosen again not to have a doll for sale, but to let some of the things I have shown on the latest exhibition be my dolls of the month. As I have told earlier on my website the theme on this exhibition was “Northern Light” and that inspired me to use the wolf as my main theme and I have worked with it in different ways.

New exhibition

After having worked with my wolf project for half a year it is now ready for the exhibition “NORTHERN LIGHT” in the town Hobro in Denmark together with 19 feltmakers from all the countries in Scandinavia who will exhibit their work. All is arranged of the group VALENKI which members are Merete Stoltze, Tove Alsner,Inger Mortensen and Anne Markers. The opening is the17.-20. of May.

Felting with an Alzheimer group

This article is based on two e-mails that I got from Linda Mosmann from Germany. I think it is very interesting to hear about how Linda works with this Alzheimer group and Linda has allowed me to use her story.

A felting project in Greenland

In the summer 1996 and 97 I went to Greenland to make a felting project for sheepholderwomen , women from small isolated communities and women from two towns down south. In the southern part of Greenland it is warm enough to breed sheep.- There are about 20.000 sheep in that area and the sheepholders have each 3 -400 sheeps.

Felt in the nature

Out in the wood, high on a cliff in Norway is sitting a 2½m tall troll. He is felted around a tree-trunk – so he is sticked there and he is not alone, because around him in the wood you can find many different felted things. These things are the result of a terrific week, where a group of felters invaded the wood.

The Kalvag Trail, An International Felt Project in Nature

Opening night of the Kalvag Trail…It was so fitting that we huddled together, arm in arm, letting out a cheer to announce the culmination of our efforts. Some of us had tears in our eyes, marking the end of an intense yet fulfilling week. Yes, it is an art installation of beautiful works of felt, but to us it was much more, a week of openness to nature and to each other, as well as to the community of Kalvag.
